Work made for hire
Also called work for hire, work-for-hire, made for hire
What is a work made for hire?
A US copyright concept under which the hiring party is treated as the author of certain works. Canadian copyright law has no equivalent for contractors, so "work for hire" language in a Canadian contract may not transfer ownership; a signed written assignment is what does.
