Privacy Policy
Last updated October 28, 2026
For Founders Law PC (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, who processes it for us, and how we handle it. It follows Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). It covers this website only; if you become a client, our engagement letter also explains how we handle your information.
What we collect
- When you contact us. If you use our contact form or the quick-note form, we collect your name and email, and anything else you choose to give us, such as your phone number, company, website, stage and a message.
- When you send us your tool results. If you use “Send us my results” or “Send this to us” on one of our free tools, we collect your name, email, the tool you used, your answers or a summary of the result, and a link to it.
- When you use Loop or “Loop explains a clause”. The text you type or paste, earlier messages in the same conversation and the page you’re on are sent to our AI provider to write an answer. We don’t ask for your name, and we don’t save the conversation.
- When you use our other tools. The health check, calculators and checkers work out your results in your browser. Your answers are kept in the page address so you can share or reopen them, and they aren’t sent to us unless you choose to send them.
- When you book a call. Booking happens on Calendly, which collects the details you enter there.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information, such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to run and secure the site. We use IP addresses for a short time to limit abuse of the forms and Loop.
Please don’t send confidential information or documents through the website until we’ve confirmed we can act for you. Contacting us doesn’t create a lawyer-client relationship.
How we use it
- To reply to your inquiry or the results you sent, and to arrange a consultation.
- To check for conflicts of interest before we act for anyone, as lawyers must.
- To answer questions through Loop.
- To keep the website running, secure and free of abuse.
We use your information only for these purposes, or as the law requires. We don’t sell personal information, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t add you to a mailing list. We reply to the email address you give us about what you asked; we’ll only send newsletters or marketing if you have separately agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who processes it for us
We use a small number of service providers. We remain responsible for the information they process for us, and we choose providers whose terms require them to protect it and use it only to provide their service. Some of them store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, the information is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
- Vercel hosts this website and runs the code that handles forms and Loop.
- Anthropic provides the AI model behind Loop and “Loop explains a clause”. We don’t store your conversations or the clauses you paste. Anthropic processes them to write each answer under its commercial terms, which say it doesn’t train its models on them. Anthropic stores data in the United States and may process it there or in other countries. Under its published policy, it automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, but may keep them for up to 2 years if they are flagged for a breach of its usage policy, and longer where the law requires. See Anthropic’s retention policy.
- HubSpot stores the messages and tool results you send through our forms in our client relationship system and notifies us by email.
- FormSubmit is a backup that delivers a form to our inbox by email if HubSpot can’t be reached. Resend, an email delivery service, may be used for the same purpose.
- Calendly handles bookings, and Clio runs our secure client portal for existing clients.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy for information it collects directly from you, for example when you book on Calendly.
Cookies and browser storage
This website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and it doesn’t track you across other sites. The contact form keeps an unsent draft in your browser tab so you don’t lose what you typed; it stays on your device and is cleared when you send the message or close the tab. Third-party services you choose to use, such as Calendly, may set their own cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry information only as long as we need it to respond, to keep the records a law firm is required to keep, and to check for conflicts of interest, which means keeping a record of who has contacted us about what. We don’t save Loop conversations or pasted clauses; our AI provider’s retention is described above.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our using it, subject to legal and professional obligations. Email us at info@forfounderslaw.com. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Forms and chat are sent over encrypted connections, checked for abuse, and limited to what’s needed. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, which is another reason not to send confidential details through the site.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. Questions about privacy, or a request about your information, can go to our privacy officer at info@forfounderslaw.com.
